The regulations provide the steps for registering copyright. Registration of copyright under the Act is optional but may be necessary for purposes of providing a record of protected works which may be used in adducing evidence in the event that there is a court process. The regulations further cover the registration of collecting societies; protection of neighbouring rights which introduce the use of security devices on sound recording and audio visual recordings.

The schedules to the regulations include various standard application forms and stipulated fees for the different registrations and other uses of copyright.
