About NABOTUBackground
The National Book Trust of Uganda (NABOTU) the winner of the IFLA Guust van Wessemael Literacy Prize for 2007 is a non-profit making umbrella organization founded in 1997 to promote authorship, publishing and a reading culture in Uganda. NABOTU believes that reading is a key skill that forms the foundation for all other learning and that reading is key to national dvelopment. NABOTU therefore engages both young and adults, rural and urban communities as well as the poor and affluent, influencing them to embrace a culture of reading as a means to advancing Uganda's culture, political, social and economic development.

- To improve the acquisition of literacy skills and ensure that people can exercise their right to read.
